VDEC provides BIM Design Validation Services that help project teams verify the accuracy, completeness, coordination, and constructability of design information before it progresses to construction.
Using BIM-based model review, multidisciplinary analysis, and structured quality checks, we help architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and owners identify design inconsistencies, coordination gaps, missing information, and potential construction risks at an early stage.
01 — The Challenge
As projects become more complex, reviewing large volumes of design information across multiple disciplines becomes increasingly difficult.
Common challenges include:
• Design information spread across multiple drawings and models
• Inconsistencies between 2D drawings and BIM models
• Design elements that do not align with project requirements
• Missing or incomplete model information
• Architectural, structural, and MEPF coordination gaps
• Design changes not reflected across all deliverables
• Inconsistent levels, grids, dimensions, and locations
• Incorrect or incomplete BIM parameters
• Constructability concerns identified late in the project
• Difficulty verifying compliance with BIM standards and project requirements
• Large volumes of information making manual review inefficient
VDEC provides a structured BIM Design Validation process to identify these issues before they impact downstream coordination, documentation, procurement, or construction.
02 — VDEC Solution
Our BIM Design Validation service combines model-based analysis, engineering review, multidisciplinary coordination, and structured quality control.
We validate designs across several key areas:

• Review model against approved design information
• Verify geometry and design intent
• Check levels, grids, dimensions, and locations
• Identify discrepancies between drawings and models
Model Quality Validation
• Model completeness
• Element accuracy
• Family and component validation
• Parameters and data
• Naming and classification
• Model structure and organization
Multidisciplinary Validation
• Architecture vs. Structure
• Architecture vs. MEPF
• Structure vs. MEPF
• HVAC vs. Electrical
• Plumbing vs. Fire Protection
• Equipment and service interfaces
Constructability Validation
• Spatial requirements
• Service clearances
• Equipment access
• Installation feasibility
• Structural openings
• Shafts and risers
• Plant rooms and service zones
BIM Standards Validation
• LOD requirements
• BIM Execution Plan compliance
• Modeling standards

04 — Our Process
01. Project Requirement Review
We review the project brief, design requirements, BIM Execution Plan, LOD requirements, specifications, project standards, and intended BIM uses.
02. Model & Document Collection
We collect the latest Architectural, Structural, MEPF, specialist models, drawings, specifications, schedules, and supporting information.
03. Model Health Check
The BIM model is reviewed for completeness, structure, geometry, naming, parameters, coordinates, levels, and overall model integrity.
04. Design Validation
The BIM model is compared against approved design information to identify discrepancies, missing elements, incorrect geometry, and design inconsistencies.
05. Multidisciplinary Review
Individual discipline models are federated and reviewed to identify coordination gaps, interfaces, clashes, and spatial conflicts.
06. Constructability Review
We assess critical areas for installation feasibility, access, clearances, structural interfaces, service routing, and construction practicality.
07. Issue Classification
Identified issues are categorized and prioritized based on severity, discipline, location, and potential impact on the project.
08. Resolution & Revalidation
Updated information is reviewed to confirm that identified issues have been addressed correctly.
09. Final Validation
A final review is completed and the validated model and associated reports are delivered to the project team.
05 — Software & Technology
Our BIM Design Validation teams work with industry-standard technologies, including:
Autodesk Revit | Navisworks | AutoCAD | Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) | BIM 360
We can also work within client-specific BIM Execution Plans, model-checking requirements, templates, standards, Common Data Environments, and project information requirements.
06 — Benefits

Disciplines: Architecture + Structure + HVAC + Electrical + Plumbing + Fire Protection
LOD: 350
VDEC Approach
VDEC performed a comprehensive BIM Design Validation review across the project's multidisciplinary models.
The team first conducted a model health and quality review, followed by comparison against approved drawings and design information. Key areas, including plant rooms, shafts, ceiling zones, structural openings, service corridors, equipment areas, and major MEPF interfaces, were then reviewed for coordination and constructability.
Identified discrepancies and issues were categorized by discipline and priority. Updated models were subsequently reviewed to confirm resolution.
Outcome
The validation process provided the project team with greater confidence in the accuracy, completeness, coordination, and constructability of the BIM information before it progressed further into construction documentation and site execution.
08 — Validate Before You Build
Design validation is more than checking whether a model looks correct. It is about ensuring that the design information is accurate, coordinated, complete, and ready for its intended purpose.
VDEC combines BIM expertise, engineering knowledge, multidisciplinary coordination, and structured quality controlto help project teams identify risks before they become costly problems.
From model validation and design compliance to coordination and constructability review, we help you move forward with greater confidence.
